MEN’S SOCCER SUFFERS 1-0 LOSS TO AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

Syracuse, N.Y. – Frazer Cronin scored the in the final seconds of the first half to give American International College a 1-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The first half featured back-and-forth action with the Yellow Jackets holding a 6-3 advantage in shots, while each team put one shot on goal over the first 44 minutes. Following a corner kick by American International with 16 seconds left in the half, the Dolphins tried to clear the ball from their zone, but the ball ended up in front of Cronin. From 23 yards out in the center of the field, Cronin blasted the ball through the bodies in front of the goal and into the top right corner of the net with just four seconds left for his first goal of the season.

The offensive attempts in the second half turned in favor of the Dolphins, who recorded a 9-3 advantage. Over the first six minutes of the stanza, the Dolphins put a pair of shots on target, but AIC goalkeeper Sebastian Tamayo stopped both shots. Le Moyne had one final scoring opportunity with 1:18 left, but Tamayo was able to cover up the ball one yard in front of the goal line off a shot following a corner kick from the left corner.

Freshman goalkeeper Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute), who slipped to 1-4 in the week after being honored by the Northeast-10 Conference, recorded three saves in the setback for the Dolphins. Tamayo tallied four saves, three of which came in the second half, to earn his seventh win of the season. The Dolphins finished the game with a 12-9 edge in shots, while taking 10 of the game's 12 corner kicks.

Le Moyne (8-4, 5-4 NE-10), which has dropped three straight games to the Yellow Jackets after posting an 11-0-2 record from 2000-2011, closes out its non-conference slate on Saturday against Felician College at 3:00 p.m.
