WOMEN’S SOCCER HAS THREE-GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED BY FRANKLIN PIERCE, 3-0

Rindge, N.H. – Three different players scored to lead Franklin Pierce University to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 play at Sodexo Field.

After 37 and one-half minutes of scoreless action to start the game, during which time each team registered three shots, the Ravens struck for the only goal they would need. Kaycee Pereira sent a long pass from the midfield up the field. Madison Finlay tracked the ball down and chipped it over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.

Following two chances by the Dolphins to even the score over the first 14 minutes of the second half, both of which were saved by Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Katie Weldon, the Ravens scored twice in a span of two and one-half minutes. Franklin Pierce doubled its lead at the 63:05 mark as Gabriela Vieira headed in a corner kick from the left side by Talita Pereira for her first marker of the campaign. After drilling the ball off the crossbar on her initial shot attempt, Nicole Chaet blasted the second opportunity into the goal from the top of the penalty box.

Junior goalkeeper Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) recorded three saves in the setback for the Dolphins. Weldon, making just her second appearance of the season between the pipes and her first in five games, improved to 3-0 in her career against the Dolphins after making three saves, all of which came in the second half. The Ravens posted an 11-8 advantage in shots, while each team recorded five corner kicks.

Le Moyne (7-6-1, 5-4-1 NE-10), which had its three-game win streak snapped, wraps up its road schedule on Tuesday at Adelphi University at 4:00 p.m.
