Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior midfielder
Zachary MacNabb (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/UNC Pembroke) and graduate student forward
Fabian Egger (Planegg, Bavaria/Feodor-Lynen Gymnasium/Webber International (Fla.)) each scored two goals to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 4-0 win over The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field. Prior to the contest, the eight members of the team in their final year of eligibility were honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
Following an errant shot by each team in the opening eight minutes of the contest, the Dolphins took advantage of a Saint Rose foul to net the only goal they would need. After getting taken down in the upper left corner of the penalty box to earn a penalty kick, MacNabb buried the attempt inside the left post for his third goal of the season at the 18:32 mark.
Just over five minutes into the second half, the Dolphins were awarded another penalty kick after a foul in front of the net on a corner kick. MacNabb again took the attempt and slotted this one inside the right post.
Le Moyne added to its lead in the 66th minute as Egger was able to get his head on the ball just before the goalkeeper was able to punch away a cross from the right side from graduate student midfielder
Gino Corasaniti (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Niagara).
The duo had a hand in Le Moyne's final goal just three and one-half minutes later. After Saint Rose goalkeeper Colan Balkwell turned away a shot by Corasaniti from the top of the penalty box, Egger collected the loose ball, dribbled around Balkwell and fired a shot into the open net for his team-best seventh goal of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute), the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week, was not required to make a save over his 80:15 between the pipes to earn his 12th win of the season, which is tied for the fifth-most in a single-season in the program's history and is the most since Steve White '09 recorded a program-best 18 in 2009. Balkwell made two saves in the second half in the loss. The Dolphins registered a 10-2 advantage in shots, including 6-0 in the second half, while taking four of the game's five corner kicks.
