MEN’S SOCCER DROPS SECOND STRAIGHT GAME, 2-0, AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

Rindge, N.H. – Jordan LeGuyader registered five saves to lead Franklin Pierce University to a 2-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Sodexo Field.

In the scoreless first half, the Dolphins held a 4-3 advantage in shots. All three of Le Moyne's shots were on target, but saved by LeGuyader.

In the second half, the Dolphins had four chances to get on the scoreboard first in the opening 11:07 of the stanza, but could not find the back of the net. Sophomore forward Ethan Gunty (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) had a shot in the crossbar and another sail over the crossbar, while LeGuyader turned away shots by freshman forward Jacob Borssen (Stockholm, Södermanland/Solna Gymnasium) and graduate student forward Gino Corasaniti (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Niagara).

Just three minutes after Corasaniti had his shot saved, the Ravens netted the game-winning goal. Lorris Cortijo sent a cross from the right side towards the top of the goal box, where David Lima was able to slide and get his foot on the ball to knock it into the net at the 59:24 mark.

The Ravens doubled their lead with just under five minutes remaining. Quincy Appah carried the ball up the middle of the field before sending a pass to Marius Preber, who collected the ball and fired a shot into the net from near the penalty spot.

Freshman goalkeeper Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) recorded two saves in suffering his second straight loss. LeGuyader tallied two saves in the second half to extend his unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1). The Dolphins finished the contest with an 8-6 advantage in shots, while the Ravens posted a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (6-3, 3-3 NE-10), which has yielded four goals over the last two games after giving up just four goals over the first seven games, is back in action on Wednesday at the University of New Haven at 3:30 p.m.
