MEN’S SOCCER TOPS NEW HAVEN, 1-0, TO SNAP LOSING STREAK

West Haven, Conn. – Graduate student forward Gino Corasaniti (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Niagara) scored midway through the first half to give the Le Moyne College men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over the University of New Haven on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play at Kayo Field.

Just under 20 minutes into the contest, the Dolphins netted the only goal they would need. Sophomore midfielder/forward Ethan Gunty (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) carried the ball down the right side of the field before centering the ball. Corasaniti ran onto the ball on the left side of the penalty box and fired a shot through the goalkeeper's legs and into the back of the net for his second tally of the season.

The Dolphins had a chance to double their lead with just over five minutes remaining in the game, but James Pyatsky was able to reject a penalty kick by graduate student forward Fabian Egger (Planegg, Bavaria/Feodor-Lynen Gymnasium/Webber International).

Freshman goalkeeper Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) registered three saves, including two in the second half, to record his fifth shutout victory of the season. Pyatsky turned away 10 shots, including seven in the second half, in the setback. The Dolphins posted a 15-6 advantage in shots, including 7-1 in the first half, while holding a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (7-3, 4-3 NE-10), which snapped a two-game losing streak, returns home to face 17th-ranked Merrimack College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
