Box Score

Shippensburg, Pa. – Marcus Shippey tossed a one-hit shutout to lead 14th-ranked Shippensburg University to a 2-0 win over the Le Moyne College baseball team on Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Fairchild Field.

The Raiders scored the only run they would need on two hits in the first inning. Center fielder Michael Douglas led off with a single up the middle and then took second on a wild pitch. After a pair of fly outs and another wild pitch, first baseman Pat Kregeloh singled through the left side to drive in Douglas.

Shippensburg added a run on one hit in the second frame. Catcher Jake Kennedy struck out with one out, but reached first on a passed ball. After moving to second on a wild pitch before a strikeout and a walk, Kennedy scored on a single to right field by Douglas.

Junior southpaw Ryan Davis (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) took the loss after giving up two runs (one earned) on 10 hits over seven innings, while striking out five. Senior left fielder Nate Reynolds (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) had Le Moyne's only hit of the day, a single to the shortstop in the second inning. Shippey struck out four and walked just one in his complete-game one-hitter.

Le Moyne (5-9) continues the four-game series with the Raiders on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
