South Easton, Mass. – Le Moyne College freshman James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Gayvert, who played first singles for the Dolphins, went 9-6 in his first collegiate season. A four-time Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week selection and a two-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week honoree, Gayvert went 6-4 in Northeast-10 Conference action. In doubles play, Gayvert was 6-9 with a pair of partners. After joining fellow freshman Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) at first doubles for the Spring season, the duo posted a record of 4-1 in conference matches. Gayvert's nine singles wins are the most by a Dolphin since Joseph Persia '12 also had nine during the 2010-11 season and are the most by a Le Moyne freshman since Persia (11), Andrew Gleason '12 (10) and Daniel Sullivan '12 (10) each recorded double-digit victories during the 2008-09 season. He opened his career with wins in his first four matches, including a 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 victory over Southern New Hampshire's Mitch Dobek, who was named to the all-conference second team after finishing the year with just two losses.
The Dolphins finished the season with a 5-9 overall record and a 4-6 mark in NE-10 play to finish in seventh place, one spot out of the conference championship.
