Waltham, Mass. – Junior midfielder
Marissa Walsh (Chenango Forks, N.Y./Chenango Forks) scored midway through the second overtime period to give the Le Moyne College women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Bentley University on Saturday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams at the Bentley Soccer Field.
During the first half, the Falcons registered a 5-3 advantage, but junior goalkeeper
Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) was able to turn away all three Bentley shots put on target. The second half featured seven shots from each team, but only three of those were on goal.
After neither team put a shot on goal in the first overtime period, each goalkeeper made a save in the opening three and one-half minutes of the second overtime period. Following a save by Corsaro and back-to-back Bentley corner kicks, the Dolphins countered with the game-winning goal. Walsh sent a pass to freshman forward
Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens), who returned the ball to Walsh in the left corner of the box, where she lofted a shot over the goalkeeper for her second career goal.
Corsaro, who has not given up a goal in a career-best 296:02, finished the contest with five saves to earn her third shutout victory of the week. Deirdre Macrorie registered four saves in the loss for the Falcons. Each team registered 14 shots, while Bentley recorded 12 of the game's 15 corner kicks.
