MEN’S SOCCER TOPS ADELPHI UNIVERSITY, 2-1, ON LATE HEADER

Garden City, N.Y. – Freshman midfielder Adam Resetarits (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) headed in the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to give the Le Moyne College men's soccer team a 2-1 win at Adelphi University on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Motamed Field.

Following 42 and one-half minutes of scoreless action to start the game, the Dolphins netted the first goal of the contest. Off a scramble in front of the net, senior back Trevor Creedon (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) headed the ball from the middle of the box to the bottom left corner of the goal for his first tally of the season.

After three shots by each team over the first 17 and one-half minutes of the second half, the Panthers tallied the equalizer in the 63rd minute. Juan Aguilar collected the ball in the midfield after a clear attempt by the Dolphins and played the ball forward to Caelan Hueber, who fired the ball into the back of the net from 28 yards out.

As they did on Saturday, the Dolphins netted the game-winning goal in the final minutes of the contest. Off a cross from the left side of the field by senior midfielder Zachary MacNabb (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/UNC Pembroke), Resetarits headed the ball under the crossbar for his second goal of the campaign at the 83:42 mark.

The Panthers had four shots over the final 2:32, but could not tie the game as one shot hit the crossbar and freshman goalkeeper Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) recorded a pair of saves, including the last one with 30 seconds.

Beaury finished with seven saves to earn his fifth win of the season between the pipes. Sergio Reyes, who took over in goal at halftime, suffered the loss after giving up the goal to Resetarits, while making one save. Ahmad Salamah played the first half and made one save. The Panthers registered a 19-9 advantage in shots, including 11-6 in the second half, while taking five of the game's six corner kicks.

Le Moyne (5-1, 2-1 NE-10), which beat the Panthers, 2-1, in overtime last year on a header by Creedon, completes its three-game road trip on Saturday at Bentley University at 11:00 a.m.
