Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman Kelsey Smith (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) won two individual events and teamed on a relay victory to lead the Le Moyne College women's swimming and diving team to a 131-99 win over Alfred University on Friday afternoon at the Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool. The Saxon picked up a split of the meet by edging the Dolphins in the men's competition, 119-118.

The Le Moyne quartet of freshmen Alyssa Baker (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua), Annie Steve (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and Sarah Gaffney (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia) and junior Meghan Myers (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) opened the meet by capturing the 200-yard medley relay in 2:00.97. Baker added a second relay victory by teaming with junior Tara O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem), Smith and classmate Lindsey Wright (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay by just 0.14 seconds with a time of 1:43.28.

Smith earned her first individual victory of the afternoon by touching the wall first in the 200-yard IM by over nine seconds with a time of 2:19.50. Four events later, she was victorious in the 200-yard backstroke by over six and one-half seconds with a time of 2:15.72. Sophomore Allison Miedaner (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) was also a dual winner on the afternoon after taking first in both diving events. She topped the field in the first one-meter diving event with a score of 139.70 and then placed first in the second one-meter event by posting a score of 185.30.

O'Donnell and Steve also recorded individual wins on the afternoon. O'Donnell earned Le Moyne's first individual victory of the meet by capturing the 200-yard freestyle in 2:03.58. Steve was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:43.59.

Sophomore Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) led the Dolphins in the setback by winning three individual events. He earned the team's first win of the day by touching the wall first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:29.42. Three events later, he claimed the 200-yard IM by over two and one-half seconds with a time of 2:00.14. Buff registered his final win of the afternoon in the 200-yard by over six seconds with a time of 2:00.47.

Junior Josh Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) was also a dual winner after recording victories in both diving events. He was victorious in the first one-meter diving event with a score of 217.05. In the second one-meter event, he recorded a score of 318.00 to claim first place.

Junior Daniel Tarbrake (Beltsville, Md./Gonzaga College High) recorded Le Moyne's fourth victory of the afternoon with a time of 2:00.70 in the 200-yard butterfly to win by just 0.06 seconds. Freshman Andy Raiola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) took first place in the 500-yard freestyle by over five and one-half seconds with a time of 5:04.13. Junior Ben Verdi (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's) picked up the team's final win of the meet by touching the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke by over five seconds with a time of 2:20.94.

The Dolphins return to the pool on Saturday against Southern Connecticut State University at 1:00 p.m. for their final home meet of the season. Prior to the start of the meet, the senior class of Samantha Clark (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland), Kerry Steve (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland), Ricky Divaccaro (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown), Joe Kuchinskas (Farmingdale, N.Y./Holy Trinity) and Tim Taylor (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
