Pleasantville, N.Y. – Junior
Mike Bardo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) won two individual events and teamed on a relay victory to lead the Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team to a 171-82 victory over Pace University on Saturday afternoon at the Goldstein Fitness Center. On the women's side, the Setters claimed 13 of the 16 events en route to a 180.5-105.5 win.
Bardo opened the meet by teaming with classmates
Chris Mosconi (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) and
Daniel Tarbrake (Beltsville, Md./Gonzaga College High) and freshman
Patrick McCormick (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.32. In the fourth individual event of the afternoon, Bardo touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.08. He earned his second individual win with a time of 57.24 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.
Junior diver
Josh Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) improved to 8-0 on the season against Northeast-10 foes by sweeping the two diving events. He registered a score of 312.00 to capture first place off the one-meter diving board. He then set the school record with a score of 322.20 en route to winning the three-meter diving event.
Freshman
Andy Raiola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) was also a dual winner on the afternoon for the Dolphins. He picked up his first win by touching the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.53. He then topped the field in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.24. Sophomore
Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) earned Le Moyne's first individual win of the meet by touching the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke in 55.76 seconds.
On the women's side, freshman
Kelsey Smith (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) earned two of Le Moyne's three victories, while junior
Tara O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) picked up the team's first win. Smith registered her first win by touching the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:36.84. She then captured the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.73. O'Donnell earned her win in the 50-yard freestyle by topping the field with a time of 26.26 seconds.
Following an open weekend, the Dolphins return to the pool on Thursday, February 5 for the first day of the four-day Northeast-10 Conference Championships, which will be held at Southern Connecticut State University.
