Syracuse, N.Y. – Hannah Bodner scored with 2:41 left in the second overtime period to give Southern Connecticut State University a 1-0 win over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.
The scoreless first half had nine combined shots with five of those needing to be saved. Southern Connecticut put two of its five shots on target, while Le Moyne registered three of its four shots on goal.
In the second half, Southern Connecticut tallied nine shots, including two that were saved by senior goalkeeper
Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool), while Le Moyne didn't put any of its five shots on goal.
The Owls, who are unbeaten in their last six games against the Dolphins (3-0-3), tallied all four of the first overtime period's shots, including two unsuccessful attempts on net.
After taking the first three shots of the second overtime period, including one that was saved by Corsaro, the Owls scored on what was not meant to be a shot. After receiving the ball on the right sideline, Bodner carried the ball to the endline before sending the ball in the direction of Kieran DeBiase at the far left post. Before the ball could net to DeBiase, it was punched out of the air by the goalkeeper and landed inside the left post for Bodner's first goal of the season and the second of her career.
Corsaro made seven saves between the pipes in suffering her seventh one-goal loss of the season. Erica Ridella recorded three first-half saves to earn her fourth victory of the year. The Owls registered a 22-9 advantage in shots, including each of the last 15 shots of the contest over the final 31:12. The Owls also posted an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (1-10-1, 0-8-1 NE-10), which has suffered four one-goal losses at home this season, returns to action on Saturday at Saint Michael's College at 1:00 p.m.
