Oneonta, N.Y. – Sophomore
Andy Raiola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) registered four top-three finishes, including a pair of first-place finishes, to lead the Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team to a first-place finish at the 10th Annual Hartwick College Relays on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool. Three members of the women's team combined for four first-place finishes to lead the Dolphins to a second-place finish.
The Dolphins won the men's meet by four points with 126 points. The host Hawks came in second with 122. The College of Saint Rose tallied 96 points to place third, while SUNY Oneonta posted 74 points for fourth. SUNY Delhi was fifth with 42 points and Wells College had 14 points for sixth.
Saint Rose claimed the women's meet with 132 points. The Dolphins finished second with 118 points, while Hartwick was just four points back in third. SUNY Oneonta placed fourth with 72 points, while Wells and SUNY Delhi rounded out the standings with 18 and six points, respectively.
Raiola earned his first victory of the meet in the fourth event by teaming with classmate
Travis May (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) and senior
Daniel Tarbrake (Beltsville, Md./Gonzaga College High) to win the 3x100-yard butterfly relay with a time of 2:42.03. He then teamed with freshmen
Cory Knapp (Weedsport, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and
Eric Burdge (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and junior
Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) to win the 850-yard crescendo relay in 8:02.27. The trio of Buff, Raiola and Burdge turned in a time of 6:15.95 to place third in the 3x200-yard IM relay. Raiola combined with May, Knapp and Burdge to post a time of 3:23.09 to place second in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Tarbrake and Knapp teamed with seniors
Chris Mosconi (Gloversville, N.Y./Gloversville) and
Ben Verdi (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's) to open the meet with a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:37.95. Mosconi, classmate

Greg Kelly (Gansevoort, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) then placed fourth in the 3x100-yard backstroke relay in 3:01.93. In the 3x100-yard breaststroke, Verdi, Buff and
Mike Bardo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) posted a time of 3:10.28 to finish in second place. Mosconi, Verdi, Tarbrake and May combined to finish in second place in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:39.79. The quartet of May, Knapp, Mosconi and Bardo placed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:30.52, while Buff, Verdi, Tarbrake and Burdge finished third in the 800-yard medley relay in 8:32.08 to close out the meet. Josh Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and freshman
Connor Haldane (Homer, N.Y./Homer) placed first in each diving event. Off the one-meter board, they combined for 376.30 points as Byrne posted 239.50 and Haldane added 136.85. They registered 362.55 points on the three-meter board as Byrne tallied 248.90 over six dives and Haldane added 113.65.
On the women's side, senior
Tara O'Donnell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) and sophomores
Alyssa Baker (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and
Kelsey Smith (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) teamed for four first-place finishes on the afternoon. In their first event together, the 3x100-yard backstroke relay, they took first by 1.10 seconds with a time of 3:05.43. Two events later, they won the 3x100-yard butterfly relay by 5.60 seconds by turning in a time of 3:06.53. Sophomore
Sarah Gaffney (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia) joined the trio in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the posted a time of 1:43.36 to win by 2.58 seconds. Madison Allen (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) to take third place in the 3x100-yard breaststroke relay in 3:45.35. Steve and Wright teamed with freshman
Emily Nicastro (Rochester, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) in the 3x200-yard IM relay to finish fourth with a time of 7:25.53. Coleman, Steve, Nicastro and Votapka closed out the meet by placing third in the 800-yard medley relay in 9:49.59. The team of sophomore
Brittney Liddy (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Iona) and freshman
Kylee Wilson (Conesus, N.Y./Livonia) registered second-place finishes in each diving event. Off the one-meter board, Liddy posted 167.25 points and Wilson added 164.25 for a total of 331.50. They combined for a score of 281.40 on the three-meter board as Liddy registered 166.70 and Wilson tallied 114.70.
The women's team returns to action on Saturday at Assumption College at 1:00 p.m. The men's team competes next on Saturday, October 31 at home against Northeast-10 Conference-foe Bentley University at 1:00 p.m.
