Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore forward
Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) was part of two goals in the last 4:05 as the Le Moyne College women's soccer team rallied for a 2-1 win over Bentley University on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.
In the scoreless first half, the Dolphins registered an 11-5 advantage in shots, including an edge of 6-2 in shots on goal. Bentley had the first scoring opportunity of the contest in the ninth minute as Alyssa Valente dribbled into the penalty box on her own, but senior goalkeeper
Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) was able to smother the ball before Valente could get a shot off. Le Moyne's first real threat came in the 22nd minute, but Colegrove's shot from the right side of the penalty box hit off the outside of the left post.
The Falcons broke through just 33 seconds into the second half. Meagan Iris collected the ball in the middle of the field and sent a pass to the right side of the penalty box to Valente. After Valente carried the ball towards the endline, she crossed the ball into the goal box, where it was redirected by Ana Tantum inside the right post from three yards out for her eighth goal of the season.
After Bentley posted an 8-3 advantage in shots over the next 40 minutes, including a 5-0 edge in shots on goal, the Dolphins evened the score at one apiece with just over four minutes remaining. Colegrove received the ball just outside the right corner of the penalty box on an overlapping run and carried the ball towards the endline. She then centered the ball to the top of the goal box, where it was knocked into the back of the net with 4:05 left on a run by sophomore midfielder
Alexis Muraco (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Syracuse).
The Dolphins, who defeated the Falcons in the final minute of play for the third straight year, tallied the game-winning goal with just 56.1 seconds remaining. From the top left corner of the penalty box, junior back
Heidi Stahl (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) crossed the ball to the middle of the penalty box to Colegrove, who spun to the left and fired a shot from 12 yards out into the lower right corner of the net for her third goal of the campaign.
Corsaro finished the game with seven saves, including five in the second half, to earn her second straight victory between the pipes. Deirdre Macrorie recorded six first-half saves in the loss for the Falcons. Le Moyne tallied a 17-14 edge in shots, while posting a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
