MEN’S SOCCER CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON UNDEFEATED AT HOME WITH 2-0 VICTORY OVER NEW HAVEN

Syracuse, N.Y. – Graduate student forward Fabian Egger (Planegg, Bavaria/Feodor-Lynen Gymnasium/Webber International) and redshirt senior midfielder Cal Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) each scored in the final home game of their careers to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over the University of New Haven in the Northeat-10 Conference finale on Friday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

With the victory, the Dolphins finish the season in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings with an 8-4-1 conference record. By way on the conference's tie-breaking procedure, the Dolphins will be the sixth seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. The Dolphins open postseason play on Tuesday at third-seeded Adelphi University at a time yet to be announced.

The Dolphins scored the only goal they would need just over nine minutes into the game. Following a New Haven foul and two quick touches off the restart, Filtch sent a shot towards the goal, but it was deflected by a New Haven defender on its incline. As the ball was descending towards the ground, Egger blasted the ball into the back of the net at the 9:14 mark for his fifth goal of the season. Filtch was credited with an assist on the play, giving him 15 on the season, which ties Northwest Nazarene's Julio Castillo for the national lead. Filtch's 15 assists are the most in the Northeast-10 Conference since Bentley's Luis-Carlos Jimenez registered 16 during the 1997 season and are the seventh-most in the 36-year history of the conference.

Le Moyne doubled its lead in the 21st minute. Off an errant touch by New Haven, sophomore midfielder Adam Resetarits (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) collected the loose ball and carried it towards the endline on the right side. He then crossed the ball in front of the net to a wide open Filtch, who touched the ball into the empty net for his team-best eighth goal of the season. The goal gave Filtch 31 points on the season, the seventh-most in the program's history, while he is the ninth player to eclipse 30 points in a single season. He is also just the third player in the program's history to have at least eight goals and at least eight assists in the same season and is the first to do it since Lee Williams in 1996. The tally gave him 47 points in his career, the 18th-most in the history of the program. With the assist, Resetarits moved into a tie for third in the NE-10 in assists with seven.

The Dolphins registered a 5-1 advantage in shots over the final 24 minutes of the half, but could not add to their lead.

Le Moyne posted an 8-5 advantage in shots in the second half, but neither team could find the back of the net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) registered four saves, including three in the second half, to earn his 12th win and seventh shutout of the season. The seven shutouts are tied for the most in the Northeast-10 this season and are tied for the seventh-most in a single-season in the program's history. He is also just the third goalkeeper in the program's history to record 15 shutouts in a two-year span. Stephen Sasso, who joins Beaury as the only goalkeepers in the conference to play each of their team's minutes between the pipes, made seven saves, including four in the first half, in the loss for the Chargers. The Dolphins finished the game with an 18-8 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (12-4-1, 8-4-1 NE-10) went unbeaten and untied at home (9-0) for the first time since the 1975 season and for just the second time in the program's history.
