Pleasantville, N.Y. – Senior midfielder
Kelly Ristoff (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Siena) scored twice off free kicks to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 2-2 double-overtime tie at Pace University on Tuesday afternoon at newly-renovated Pace Stadium.
The teams opened the game by combining for 15 shots in the first 35 minutes of the contest, including five shots from each team that needed to be saved.
After Pace goalkeeper Aisha Chauhan registered her fifth save of the half, the Setters struck for the game's first goal just 32 seconds later. Sophia DeLeo sent a cross from the right side into the box, where it was redirected by Delany Williams into the left corner of the net for her fourth goal of the season at the 35:08 mark.
The Dolphins responded with four consecutive shots, the first of which had to be saved by Chauhan, but could not find the back of the net. Le Moyne senior goalkeeper
Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) turned away two shots in the final three minutes of the half to keep the Dolphins within one goal.
After forcing Corsaro to make two saves in the first 12 and one-half minutes of the second stanza, Pace doubled its lead in the 59th minute. From 30 yards out, Fanny Fellevik blasted a shot that hit off the crossbar and into the net for her second tally of the campaign.
Only 2:06 later, the Dolphins got the goal back following a Pace foul. On the free kick from 25 yards out, Ristoff tallied her fourth goal of the year with 60:53 elapsed in the contest.
Pace tallied seven shots over the next 25 minutes, including four that needed to be saved by Corsaro, but the Setters could not add to their lead.
Following a Le Moyne throw-in from the left sideline with about 15 seconds left, a Pace defender committed a foul outside the top left corner of the penalty box, with the referee stopping the clock with six seconds remaining. From 22 and one-half yards out from the goal, Ristoff tucked the free kick underneath the crossbar to tie the score with just seconds remaining. The goal marked the 20th of Ristoff's two and one-half season career as a Dolphin, which made her just the 10t Dolphin to reach that plateau and the first since Christie Morano '13 did so against UMass Lowell on October 8, 2010.
Ristoff had the only shot of the first overtime session at the 97:30 mark, but it was blocked by a Pace defender.
Robyn Seward took a pair of shots in the second overtime session, but the first sailed over the crossbar and the second was wide left.
Corsaro finished the game with a season-high 12 saves, which ties for the second-highest total of her career. Chauhan recorded seven saves in her second tie of the season. Pace registered a 25-19 advantage in shots, including a 14-8 edge after halftime, while taking 14 of the game's 19 corner kicks, including eight of the nine after halftime.
Le Moyne (1-8-1, 0-6-1 NE-10), which snapped a seven-game losing streak, returns home to face Adelphi University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the contest, the senior class of Corsaro, Ristoff, goalkeeper
