Syracuse, N.Y. – Adam Blazek nearly posted a triple-double to lead Gannon University to a 70-49 win over the Le Moyne College men's basketball team on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Ted Grant Court.
The Dolphins, who scored their fewest points at home since recording 49 in a 58-49 loss to Franklin Pierce (then College) on January 5, 2006, a span of 125 home games, only put one player in double digits. Senior forward

Gannon, which improved to 30-17 all-time against the Dolphins and visited Syracuse for the first time since February 1995, had three players in double figures. Girbran Smith led the Golden Knights with a game-high 15 points, 10 of which he scored in the second half. Raphell Thomas-Edwards netted 11 second-half points, while adding seven rebounds. Blazek registered his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while posting six assists and four steals.
After the Dolphins took a 4-2 lead at the 18:18 mark, Gannon rattled off 12 of the next 13 points. Jean Yves Toupane ignited the run with a three-pointer, Blazek made a jumper, Rich Austin made two shots in the paint and then A'Darius Porter recorded a conventional three-point play for a 14-5 advantage with 14:10 left.
Le Moyne responded with nine of the next 12 points to get within three points. Freshman guard
Tanner Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland/Bridgton Academy) drilled a three-pointer, sophomore forward
Stan Buczek (Port Jervis, N.Y./Burke Catholic) registered a conventional three-point play and then junior guard
Qwadere Lovell (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon) buried a three-pointer from the top of the key with 10:35 left in the half.
Following seven straight points from Gannon and six from the Dolphins, the Golden Knights closed out the final five minutes of the half with a 12-1 run to take a 36-21 lead into the intermission. Toupane had four points around a basket by Blazek before Smith and Matthew Dogan drained three-pointers.
Gannon increased its run to 17-1 with the first five points of the second half to take its first 20-point lead of the game. Smith started the half with a three-pointer and then Thomas-Edwards had a tip-in for a 41-21 lead with 18:17 left.
Following nine points from each team over the next five and one-half minutes, the Dolphins registered a 10-2 run over 2:52 to get within 12. Freshman forward
Zach Quattro (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the charge with a pair of three-pointers.
The Golden Knights responded with 15 of the next 20 points to take their largest lead of the game and put the game out of reach. Thomas-Edwards recorded nine of the 15 points in the stretch for the Golden Knights.
Le Moyne (14-12), which finished non-conference play with a 6-2 record, returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday against American International College at 3:00 p.m. Prior to the contest, Romich will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for his contributions to the program.
