SEVENTH-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE DOWNS SAINT MICHAEL’S, 21-7

Syracuse, N.Y. – Seniors Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and Kevin Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.Y./Ridge) each scored six points to lead the seventh-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse to a 21-7 victory over Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins took control of the game with six goals in the first quarter. Graduate student midfielder Matt Taylor (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Cornell) started the scoring with an unassisted goal 45 seconds into the game. Just over three minutes later, sophomore midfielder Brian Rogers (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied an unassisted goal for his 10th tally of the season. Corapi then picked up assists on a pair of extra-man goals. Junior attackman Logan Thomas (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Onondaga C.C.) scored the first with 7:50 left, while Kelly found the back of the net with 4:10 to play. Junior midfielder Mike Fiorini (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) gave the Dolphins a 5-0 lead off a feed from Kelly, while Corapi finished off the quarter's scoring with an unassisted goal after picking up a loose ball off a Saint Michael's turnover.

Following a Saint Michael's turnover, junior defensive midfielder Nick Kline (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) scored off a pass from Kelly with 11:49 left in the second quarter.

After Matt Dromeshauser got the Purple Knights on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 9:31 mark, the Dolphins scored twice in a span of 48 seconds. Kelly scored the first off a pass from Corapi with 7:22 left, while freshman defensive midfielder Jake Mortier (North Chili, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) tallied his fist career goal with 6:34 remaining after taking a pass from senior attackman Chris Breiner (Troy, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling).

The teams then alternated goals over the final 5:01 of the quarter. Daegan Goodman tallied an unassisted goal with 5:01 left, while Corapi scored in an extra-man situation with 4:22 remaining after taking a feed from Thomas. After Mark Yetter posted an unassisted goal with 2:34 left, the Dolphins scored eight seconds later as Corapi won the ensuing faceoff and then fed sophomore attackman Alex O'Brien (Hanson, Mass./Boston College High), who flipped a pass to Thomas for a goal from the right side.

Le Moyne pushed its lead to 13-3 with the first goals of the third quarter, both of which came in uneven situations. Rogers tallied an extra-man goal with 12:04 left, while Thomas scored a man-down goal in transition off a feed from Kelly at the 9:59 mark.

Dromeshauser got the Purple Knights within single digits with 7:28 left in the third, but the Dolphins scored the last two goals of the third. Breiner found the back of the net with 4:50 remaining, while Kelly scored 37 seconds later after receiving a pass from Thomas.

The Purple Knights scored 10 seconds into the fourth quarter as Dromeshauser tallied an unassisted goal.

Le Moyne responded with four goals over 8:45 to take a 19-5 lead. Just 32 seconds after Dromeshauser scored, Corapi scored his 16th goal of the season 24 seconds into an extra-man opportunity off a pass from Rogers. Following a Saint Michael's turnover, freshman midfielder Greg White (Buffalo, N.Y./Nichols School) netted his first career goal off a pass from senior long-stick midfielder Kyle Moyer (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) with 13:05 remaining. Following almost seven minutes of scoreless play, junior attackman Pat Nowak (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) tallied his third goal of the season, while Fiorini picked up his third goal 48 seconds later.

Saint Michael's scored twice in 11 seconds to get within 19-7. Ben Overslaugh scored at the 3:46 mark, while Matt Casella followed off a pass from Spencer Ralston.

The Dolphins closed out the scoring with two goals over the last 2:13. Freshman Luke Bartkoski (Victor, N.Y./Victor) registered his first career goal with 2:13 left, while sophomore attackman Cade Kelleher (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) found the back of the net 60 seconds later off a pass from White.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Krawec (Kirkville, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa/Onondaga C.C.) registered 12 saves (against four goals) over three quarters to earn his fifth win of the season. T.J. Bicknell turned away 22 shots in the loss for the Purple Knights.

Le Moyne (5-1, 3-0 NE-10), which improved to 25-0 all-time against the Purple Knights, closes out its three-game homestand on Tuesday against American International College at 3:00 p.m.
