Liverpool, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered a 9-0 victory over American International College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Gold's Gym.
At the top doubles spot, sophomores
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) defeated James Worrall and Alfie Cleave, 8-3. The duo of freshmen
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) registered an 8-0 win over Timothy Zoma and Jason Popek at the second spot. At third doubles, redshirt junior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and sophomore
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) won by default.
At the top singles spot, Gayvert turned in a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Worrall. Barton registered a 6-3, 6-1 win over Cleave at second singles, while Doney was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Zoma at third singles. Spoor registered an 8-0 win over Popek at fourth singles, while Legris tallied a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles over Johno May. Procopio won by default at sixth singles due to AIC not having a competitor for the spot.
Le Moyne (6-7, 4-3 NE-10), which snapped a four-match losing streak, plays its final home conference match of the season on Wednesday against Saint Michael's College at 12:15 p.m. at the Gold's Gym in DeWitt.
