THIRD-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE CLINCHES NE-10 BYE WITH 14-10 WIN AT SIXTH-RANKED ADELPHI

Garden City, N.Y. – Senior goalkeeper Alex Krawec (Kirkville, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa/Onondaga C.C.) registered 18 saves to lead the third-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory over sixth-ranked Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play at Motamed Field.

Off a restart from behind the goal, reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year Sal Tuttle got the game's scoring started with an unassisted marker into the upper left corner of the net at the 11:17 mark.

The Dolphins answered with five consecutive goals over the final 9:15 of the first quarter and the opening 1:54 of the second quarter. Senior midfielder Joe Corapi (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) evened the game at one apiece with his 29th goal of the season from the right alley with 9:15 left. He scored again 78 seconds later with a low shot to give the Dolphins the lead. Following a Krawec save, junior attackman Logan Thomas (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Onondaga C.C.) scored in transition from the right edge of the crease with 6:39 to go after taking a pass from junior defensive midfielder Nick Kline (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool). Sophomore midfielder Brian Rogers (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) gave the Dolphins a 4-1 lead with an unassisted tally from the left alley with 4:57 remaining in the opening quarter. Graduate student midfielder Matt Taylor (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius/Cornell) completed the outburst with his 20th goal of the season from the right alley with 13:06 left in the second quarter.

The Panthers, who had defeated the Dolphins in the past two regular-season matchups, snapped their scoring drought of 15:56 as Connor Duddy tallied his 18th goal of the season with 10:21 left off a pass from Nick Susko.

Senior attackman Chris Breiner (Troy, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling) pushed the lead back to four as he scored from right edge of the crease at the 7:28 mark off a feed from junior attackman Mike Jenkins (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa).

Tuttle countered with a right-handed wraparound shot from the left edge of the crease with 6:12 left after coming from behind the net.

The Dolphins scored the final three goals of the quarter to take a 9-3 lead into the intermission. Coming from the restraining line, Rogers raced past his defender and stuck a shot into the top left corner of the net from the right edge of the crease with 5:08 remaining. He then pushed the lead to 8-3 with 3:26 left by firing a shot into the top left corner from the right alley. After Kelly forced a turnover near midfield on an Adelphi clear attempt with 40 seconds left, Corapi buried a shot from the right side with 26.3 seconds remaining.

The teams traded goals in the third quarter as the Panthers trimmed their deficit to five after 45 minutes. Chris Racalbuto started the scoring in the quarter by finishing off a feed from Paul Bentz with 9:04 left. Corapi answered back with his 32nd goal with 6:20 left after taking a pass from senior attackman Kevin Kelly (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge). Only 50 seconds later, Anthony DeLuca scored from the front of the crease with a behind-the-back shot to make it 10-5 after accepting a pass from Racalbuto. Rogers pushed Le Moyne's lead back to six with his 22nd marker of the year with 4:51 to go. Cory Stavis completed the scoring in the stanza by finishing off a pass from Duddy with 32 seconds left.

Tuttle made the score 11-7 with 10:19 left in the game after scoring underneath the crossbar from the left edge of the crease after coming from behind the net.

Kelly scored twice in 80 seconds to push the lead back to six for the final time. He scored from the left alley with 9:01 to go after taking a cross-field pass from Breiner. After senior long-stick midfielder Nick Hourigan (Rexford, N.Y./Shenendehowa) caused a turnover and senior defenseman Eric Chadderdon Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg/Ohio State) scooped up the loose ball, Kelly scored in transition from the left side off a pass from junior defensive midfielder Kyle DeAngelis (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) with 7:41 left.

The Panthers tallied three straight goals over 2:51 to cut their deficit in half with just over four minutes left. Following a Le Moyne turnover on the right edge of the crease, Joe Sciara found the back of the net with 7:05 left off a pass from Anthony Gomes. Duddy made it 13-9 with an unassisted goal with 6:35 to play, while Jamie McAndrew scored from the left side with 4:14 to go.

Following a Krawec save, Taylor scored from the right alley with 3:28 to go after taking a pass from the top of the box from Corapi.

Krawec, the reigning NE-10 Goalkeeper and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week, registered six saves in each of the first and fourth quarters en route to recording his 11th win of the season. The 18 saves are the most by a Dolphin since Tom Kimble '03 recorded 18 in a 9-7 win at Bryant on April 5, 2003. John McGrath took the loss for the Panthers after yielding nine goals in first half, while making five saves.
