NEW HAVEN RALLIES IN SECOND HALF TO DOWN WOMEN’S SOCCER, 2-1

West Haven, Conn. – Marisa Garcia scored with just over 13 minutes remaining as the University of New Haven rallied in the second half to register a 2-1 victory over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference opener at Kayo Field.

The Dolphins took advantage of a New Haven foul just outside the penalty box to get on the scoreboard first. Off the direct free kick from 20 yards out, senior midfielder Kelly Ristoff (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Siena) drilled the ball into the back of the net at the 10:19 mark for her second goal of the season.

The Chargers registered a 9-5 advantage in shots over the last 32 and one-half minutes of the first half, but neither team was able to score.

After taking four of the second half's first five shots, New Haven evened the score at one apiece with 26:07 remaining. Garcia slipped a pass to Ashley Dawson, who chipped a shot over the goalkeeper's head from the top of the penalty box.

Just 13 minutes later, Allison Morgan sent a pass to Garcia, who lifted a shot over the goalkeeper from just inside the top of the penalty box.

Le Moyne had a chance to tie the score 45 seconds later, but New Haven goalkeeper Deandra Nash turned away a shot by Ristoff. The Dolphins were unable to get off a shot the remainder of the half.

Senior goalkeeper Tori Corsaro (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) registered five saves in the loss for the Dolphins. Nash recorded four saves to earn the win between the pipes. New Haven finished the game with a 20-11 advantage in shots and took six of the game's eight corner kicks.

Le Moyne (1-2, 0-1 NE-10), which lost its first NE-10 game of the year for the first time since the 2012 season, is back in action on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against Mercy College at 3:00 p.m.
