Hamilton, N.Y. – Three players were double winners to lead Colgate University to a 9-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's tennis team on Thursday afternoon at the John W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts.
At first doubles, Jacob Daugherty and Tom Haile teamed for an 8-4 win over junior
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and sophomore
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds). Jake Hirschberg and Dean Koman also posted an 8-4 win at second doubles over redshirt senior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.) and junior
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt). Mark Pronchick and Anthony Derose completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at the third spot over junior
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and freshman
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa).
In singles action, Daugherty registered a 6-2, 6-4 win at the top spot over Gayvert, while Haile picked up his second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the fifth position over Spoor. Hirschberg grabbed his second victory of the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Underwood at sixth singles. Noah Rosenblat topped Doney at second singles with back-to-back scores of 6-2. Nick Laub won the closest match of the day, 6-3, 7-6, at the third spot over Legris, while Bobby Alter was a 6-1, 6-3 winner against Procopio at the fourth position.
Le Moyne (0-2) plays its first Northeast-10 Conference match of the year on Sunday, October 4 against Bentley University at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
