The Dolphins opened the game by making four of their first five three-point attempts to jump out to a 12-6 lead at the 16:28 mark. Jenkins hit the first two three-pointers and then sophomore guard Tanner Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland/Bridgton Academy) knocked down back-to-back three-pointers.

After the teams traded baskets to force a tie at 14, the Dolphins rattled off a 15-2 run to take their largest lead of the game. Lovell scored the first seven points, sophomore guard Russell Sangster (Rockville, Md./Bullis School) made a lay-up and then sophomore guard Anthony Richards (New Castle, Pa./New Castle/West Virginia Wesleyan) drained a pair of three-pointers for a 29-16 lead with 9:48 left.

Following back-and-forth play over the next six minutes, which led to a 39-29 Le Moyne lead, the Purple Knights scored six straight points to get within four. Jones II had four of the points, while Bonds had a fast-break dunk in the middle.
