Easton, Mass. - Pierce Cumpstone recorded a double-double as Stonehill College withstood a second-half rally by Le Moyne College to register a 71-65 victory in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action on Wednesday night at Paula Sullivan Court.

Russell Sangster (Rockville, Md./Bullis School) tallied career-highs of 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Dolphins in the setback. Senior forward
Connor Mahoney (Hanover, Mass./BC High/Brooks School), playing his final game in Eastern Massachusetts, came off the bench to score a season-high 12 points in 14 second-half minutes. Junior forward
Stan Buczek (Port Jervis, N.Y./Burke Catholic) was the third Dolphin to reach twin digits with 11 points.
Cumpstone tallied career-highs of 23 points (14 in the second half) and 16 rebounds (eight in each half), while adding three steals and two assists. Ryan Logan contributed 18 points, including 10 after halftime, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. Daniel Brix was the third Skyhawk in double figures with 13 points, including nine in the second half.
Stonehill opened the game with consecutive baskets before the Dolphins answered with five straight points for their only lead of the game. Sangster registered back-to-back lay-ups to give Le Moyne a 5-4 lead with 16:19 left.
The Skyhawks countered with nine straight points and 13 of the next 15 to take their first double-digit lead of the game, 17-7. Five players tallied the 13 points, with Brix scoring the final four.
After Le Moyne answered back with a 7-2 spurt to cut its deficit in half with 8:03 left in the half, the Skyhawks ran off 10 straight points and 14 of the next 17 to open up their largest lead of the half. Logan led the run with six points, while Cumpstone added a three-pointer.
Following a Le Moyne three-pointer, Isaiah Bess made two free throws to give Stonehill a 35-20 lead at halftime.
Stonehill opened the second half with seven straight points to take its first 22-point lead of the game. Brix had the first three, Cumpstone followed with a lay-up and then Logan made a jumper with 17:02 remaining.
After the teams exchanged points over the next 8:23, with Stonehill's lead bouncing between 17 and 22 points in the stretch, the Dolphins started their comeback. Following a Cumpstone three-pointer to put the Skyhawks up 60-40 with 8:39 left, the Dolphins rattled off 16 of the next 18 points, including 11 straight on the backend. Following two free throws by Brix with 2:22 left to snap a scoreless drought of 4:33 by the Skyhawks, the Dolphins scored nine of the next 13 points to get within three points with 20 seconds left. Sophomore guard
Anthony Richards (New Castle, Pa./New Castle/West Virginia Wesleyan) drilled a three-pointer and recorded a conventional three-point play, while Sangster scored the other three points.
Logan went 3-for-4 from the foul line over the last 15 seconds to close out the game's scoring.
Le Moyne (5-7, 3-4 NE-10), which had its six-game win streak at Stonehill snapped (first loss since December 3, 2005), returns to action on Saturday at Assumption College at 3:00 p.m.
