New Haven, Conn. – Kieran DeBiase scored with 39 seconds left to give Southern Connecticut State University a 3-2 win over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team on Wednesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action at Jess Dow Field.
After sophomore goalkeeper
Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) turned away the game's first shot at the 22:38 mark, the Dolphins struck for the first goal just 44 seconds later. Junior
Stephanie Liberati (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied her fourth goal of the season off a pass from classmate
Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens). The assist was Colegrove's seventh of the season. In addition to being tied for the most in the Northeast-10, Colegrove's seven assists are tied for the eighth-most by a Dolphin in a single season in the program's history and are the most since Megan O'Shea '10 also posted seven in 2008.
The Owls evened the score at one apiece at the 38:33 mark as Juliana Templeman finished off a feed from Caroline Staudle.
Each team put a shot on goal over the final three minutes of the half, but could not break the tie before the intermission.
After each team had a shot saved in the first 11 minutes of the second half, the Dolphins regained the lead at the 64:25 mark as junior midfielder
Brielle Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus/Mansfield) registered her fifth tally of the campaign.
Southern Connecticut State took advantage of a corner kick to even the score at two apiece with just 3:10 remaining. Maeghan Howard served the corner kick from the right side to the top of the goal box, where Staudle was able to get her head on the ball and put it inside the left post.
