Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior midfielder
Rachel Terry (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) recorded three points to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at Ted Grant Field.
The Purple Knights opened the game's scoring 12 and one-half minutes into the game. Off a through ball from the left side by Michaela Horne, Emily Durette ran onto the ball at the top of the penalty box before the goalkeeper could get there. After settling the ball, Durette sent a shot inside the left post for her first goal of the season.
Le Moyne registered six shots on goal over the final 32 minutes of the half, but could not get the ball past goalkeeper Megan LeCours.
The Dolphins took the lead with three goals in a 10-minute span midway through the second half. They evened the score in the 67th minute as Terry carried the ball into the center of the field before blasting a shot from 25 yards out into the upper right corner of the net for her 10th goal of the season.
Following a Saint Michael's foul along the right sideline, junior forward
Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) served the free kick into the penalty box. Terry headed the ball from 12 yards out towards the left post, where it was headed into the bottom left corner of the goal by junior midfielder
Stephanie Liberati (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) for her fifth goal of the season at the 74:24 mark. The assist was the eighth of the season for Colegrove, which is the most by a Dolphin in the program's 21 seasons in the Northeast-10.
Exactly two minutes later, the Dolphins doubled their lead as freshman midfielder
Claire Stackel (Watertown, N.Y./Copenhagen) drilled a 22-yard shot from the right side into the upper left corner of the net for her third tally of the campaign.
Saint Michael's was unable to get off another shot before time expired.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) registered one save in between the pipes to earn her sixth victory of the season. LeCours finished the contest with six saves in the loss. Le Moyne registered an 18-3 advantage in shots, including 6-0 in the second half, while the Dolphins took six of the game's seven corner kicks.
