Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior midfielder
Rachel Terry (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) tallied a pair of goals to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Assumption College on Saturday in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins tallied the only goal they would need just over 16 minutes into the game. Off a corner kick from the right side by junior forward
Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens), sophomore midfielder
Kelsi Fredericks (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia/SUNY Oswego) headed the ball into the right side of the net from the top of the goal box for her third tally of the season. The assist was the ninth of the season for Colegrove, which is tied for the fifth-most by a Dolphin in a single season and is the most since 1995. She now has 16 assists for her career, which ties a trio of players for the fourth-most in the program's history.
Less than six minutes later, the Dolphins doubled the lead as an attempted cross from the left endline by Terry got over the goalkeeper and fell into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Each team put two shots on goal over the final 22 minutes of the half, but neither could find the back of the net.
Following six shots by each team over the opening 31 minutes of the second half, including two shots each that needed to be saved, the Dolphins added to their lead. After saving an errant pass from going over the left endline, Terry evaded a defender and dribbled towards the top left corner of the goal box. Once in open space, Terry blasted a shot inside the near left post for her 12th goal of the season. The goal gives Terry 30 for her career, which ties her with Megan O'Shea '10 for sixth on the program's career goals scored chart. Her 12 goals are tied for the 11th-most in a single season by a Dolphin and are the most since Christie Morano '13 recorded 13 in 2010, while her 26 points this season are tied for the 13th-most in a single season by a Dolphin and are the most since Morano posted 30 in 2010. Terry's point and goal totals are both tied for the third-most in a season by a Dolphin since Le Moyne joined the Northeast-10 in 1996.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) registered six saves, including four in the first half, to record her fourth shutout and eighth win of the season. The eight wins are tied for the sixth-most by a Dolphin in a single season, while the four shutouts are tied for the fourth-most. Alexis Nason posted eight saves (against three goals allowed) over 82:22 between the pipes for the Greyhounds. Le Moyne tallied a 19-13 advantage in shots, including 11-7 in the first half, while Assumption took three of the game's four corner kicks.
