Rochester, N.Y. – Four Dolphins tallied three wins each as the Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams recorded wins over Nazareth College on Friday night. The women recorded a 135-108 victory, while the men were 129-107 winners.
On the women's side, juniors
Kelsey Smith (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley),
Annie Steve (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland),
Alyssa Baker (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and
Sarah Gaffney (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia) opened the meet by combining for a first-place finish in the 400-meter medley relay in 4:44.58.
Baker registered the team's first individual win and her first of two victories by touching the wall first in the 50-meter freestyle in 28.94 seconds. She topped the field in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:13.12.
Smith picked up her first solo win of the evening by recording a time of 2:32.84 to top her competition by almost seven seconds in the 200-meter IM. She registered the team's last win of the meet with a time of 1:18.11 in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Gaffney added an individual win to her relay victory by recording a time of 1:04.11 in the 100-meter freestyle.
Freshman
Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:10.24 for her first collegiate win in the event.
For the men, freshmen
Nick Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker),
Michael Dierolf (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) and
Matthew Walton (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) and junior
Travis May (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) teamed for a victory in the meet-opening 400-meter medley relay in 4:07.35.
Walton tallied his first of two individual wins by topping the field in the 200-meter freestyle for his first collegiate victory with a time of 1:59.57. He was also victorious in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 53.80 seconds.
May was also a double-winner in individual events. He earned his first win by posting a time of 24.55 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle. May added his second victory by placing first in the 100-meter butterfly in 59.61 seconds.
Senior
Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) earned the team's first individual victory of the evening by touching the wall first in the 800-meter freestyle in 8:58.37. Junior
Andy Raiola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) collected the team's final win of the night by just 0.02 seconds with a time of 4:20.97 in the 400-meter freestyle.
Le Moyne is back in the pool on Sunday at Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University at 1:00 p.m.
