Waltham, Mass. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were upended by Bentley University on Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center pool. The Falcons topped the men, 169-131, and were 176-122 winners against the men.
Senior
Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) earned Le Moyne's first win of the day by touching the wall first in the 1000-yard freestyle by over 20 seconds with a time of 10:10.41. He tallied his second victory of the meet by over four seconds with a time of 2:12.31 in the 200-yard breaststroke. He earned his third win by topping the field in the 200-yard IM in 2:00.00.
Freshman
Matthew Walton (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) registered a time of 1:47.41 in the 200-yard freestyle to claim first place. He was also victorious in the 50-yard freestyle by touching the wall in 22.02 seconds. His third win of the day came in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.37 seconds.
Freshman
Michael Dierolf (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) captured the 100-yard breaststroke by almost two seconds with a time of 1:00.76.
Junior
Travis May (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) tallied the win in the 100-yard butterfly by posting a time of 52.66 seconds.
Walton and May teamed with sophomores
Cory Knapp (Weedsport, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and
Eric Burdge (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) to win the meet-closing 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.73.
On the women's side, junior
Kelsey Smith (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) recorded the team's first win of the afternoon by recording a time of 1:08.48 in the 100-yard breaststroke to win by almost two seconds.
Freshman
Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) edged a Bentley competitor by less than one second to win the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.24.
Smith combined with classmates
Alyssa Baker (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and
Sarah Gaffney (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia) and freshman
Jamie Alexander (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) to place first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.11.
