Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman forward
Salar Faryar (Frankfurt, Germany/Max-Eyth Schule) and junior midfielder
Adam Resetarits (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) connected on a pair of goals to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Saint Michael's College on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins opened the game's scoring less than seven minutes into the contest. From the right side of the penalty box, Resetarits sent a pass in front of the goal. Faryar ran onto the ball and deposited a shot into the back of the net at the 6:39 mark from the top of the goal box.
Saint Michael's evened the score at one apiece just under 15 minutes into the game. After collecting the ball 12 yards in front of the goal, Andres Rivas fired a shot that was going left of the net, but it was redirected by a Le Moyne defender and found the back of the net for his first career goal.
Le Moyne regained the lead at the 30:15 mark after the Dolphins were awarded a penalty kick when Faryar was held inside the penalty box. Senior back
Jack Ball (Sunbury, England/Bishop Wand/Bryant & Stratton) slipped the penalty kick into the left side of the net for his first goal of the year.
Each team had one shot over the final 11 minutes of the half, but neither team was able to add to its goal total.
The Purple Knights evened the score at the 68:37 mark with a penalty kick of their own after a Le Moyne defender was booked for an unnecessary hit in the penalty box. Junior goalkeeper
Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) was able to get a hand on Adrian Diaz's kick towards the left side of the net, but was unable to keep the ball out of the net.
Le Moyne took its third lead of the game eight minutes later. After carrying the ball down the right sideline, Resetarits served the ball in front of the goal. Faryar beat the goalkeeper to the ball and knocked it into the net from one yard out at the right post for his team-best sixth goal of the season.
Saint Michael's only had one shot over the 13 minutes of the game, but it went wide right of the goal.
Beaury finished the contest with one save in picking up his 31st career victory, which ties him with Craig Palleschi '02 for the fifth-most in the program's history.
Le Moyne (7-2-1, 5-2 NE-10), which has recorded three straight one-goal victories, concludes its three-game homestand on Saturday with its second-to-last home game of the season against Bentley University at 12:00 p.m.
