WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS AT CONFERENCE-LEADING AND 12TH-RANKED ADELPHI, 2-0

Garden City, N.Y. – Morgan Santoro scored a pair of goals to lead 12th-ranked Adelphi University to a 2-0 win over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Motamed Field.

After registering a 9-2 advantage in shots over the opening 44 minutes of the game, the Panthers struck for the only goal they would need. Following a collision at the top of the penalty box between the goalkeeper and an Adelphi attacker, Victoria Antonino ended up with the ball on the left side of the penalty box. She served the ball in front of the net to Santoro, who got behind the goalkeeper and deposited the ball into the back of the net with just 26 seconds left in the first half.

The Panthers doubled their lead just over 13 minutes into the second half. After carrying the ball into open space in the middle of the field, Santoro launched a shot from 25 yards out. The shot hit off the crossbar and ricocheted down inside the goal line for her Northeast-10-leading 15th goal of the season.

The Dolphins had a chance to trim their deficit in half in the 73rd minute, but senior midfielder Rachel Terry (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) had her shot saved by Adelphi goalkeeper Anne Marie Ulliac.

Sophomore goalkeeper Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) registered a season-best 10 saves, including five in each half, in between the pipes in the setback. Ulliac had just the one save in the victory for the Panthers. Adelphi recorded a 22-5 advantage in shots and posted all 14 of the game's corner kicks.

Le Moyne (5-5-1, 3-4-1 NE-10) is back on the road on Wednesday at Southern Connecticut State at 5:00 p.m.
