Erie, Pa. – Edinboro University had five double winners as the Fighting Scots defeated the Le Moyne College men's tennis team on Sunday evening at the Westwood Racquet Club.
In doubles action, Vitor Albanese and Camilo Moncayo registered an 8-5 win at the top spot over junior
James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and sophomore
Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds). At the second position, Daniel Fernandez and Mateus Santos recorded an 8-1 win over sophomore
Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) and junior
Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt). Mauricio Santos and Kevin Mboko posted the first win of the match, 8-3, at third doubles over junior
Benjamin Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and
Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa).
Mauricio Santos recorded the first singles win of the match by defeating Barton at the second spot, 6-3, 6-0. Albanese clinched the match for the Fighting Scots with a 6-3, 6-2 win at first singles over Gayvert. Mateus Santos then posted consecutive scores of 6-4 in a win over Doney, while Moncayo was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at the fourth spot over senior
Stephane Legris (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury/Adirondack C.C.). In the closest match of the day, Fernandez rallied to win at the fifth spot over Spoor, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. Thomas McCoy closed out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Procopio at sixth singles.
Le Moyne (0-6) returns to action on Saturday at Daemen College at 6:30 p.m.
