Josh Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) closed out his decorated career by earning Honorable Mention All-America accolades off the three-meter diving board at the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium.
On Saturday, Byrne became the first diver in the program's history to earn All-America honors in the three-meter diving event. He earned the honors by placing 16th in the event with 430.90 points, his highest score in three appearances at the Championships. One of just five Le Moyne men's competitors to place at the National Championships and the only diver to earn more than one all-America honor, Byrne closed out this career by scoring 44 of his 430.90 points with his signature dive, a back dive with a half twist.
The Northeast-10 Conference Men's Diving Championship Most Valuable Athlete each of his four years after earning six gold medals and two silver medals, he turned in a 17th-place performance off the one-meter diving board on Thursday by recording 405.25 points.
