Alyssa Baker (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) won two individual events to lead the Le Moyne College women's swimming and diving team to a season-opening 106-77 victory over Cazenovia College on Friday evening at the Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool. Senior
Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) and junior
Travis May (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) each won an individual event and teamed on a relay victory to lead the men's team to a 74-48 win over Wildcats.
Baker earned her first individual victory of the year in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.83 seconds. She later won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.05.
To open the meet, juniors
Kelsey Smith (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley),
Madison Allen (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) and
Sarah Gaffney (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia) and sophomore
Emily Nicastro (Rochester, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) combined to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:57.69.
Smith registered the team's first individual win of the season by placing first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.58. Junior
Annie Steve (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) earned the win in the 200-yard IM in 2:24.88, while freshman
Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./ Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) claimed first place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:39.81 for her first collegiate win. Junior
Lindsey Wright (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) closed out the individual portion of the meet by winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.90. Sophomore
Kylee Wilson (Conesus, N.Y./Livonia) captured the one-meter diving event with 184.55 points.
On the men's side, Buff and May teamed with freshman
Michael Dierolf (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) and sophomore
Eric Burdge (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) for a first-place finish in the meet-opening 200-yad medley relay in 1:41.97.
Individually, Buff registered the team's final victory by touching the wall first in the 200-yard IM in 2:02.82. May earned his first win of the season in the fourth event of the meet, the 50-yard freestyle, in 22.49 seconds. Junior
Andy Raiola (Brooklyn, Xavier) claimed the team's first win of the year with a time of 1:49.43 in the 200-yard freestyle. Sophomore
Connor Haldane (Homer, N.Y./Homer) captured his first collegiate victory with 179.80 points in the one-meter diving event.
The Dolphins are back in the pool on Friday and Saturday at the Colgate University Fall Classic. Joining the Dolphins and the Raiders will be the University of Massachusetts, St. Francis University, LIU Brooklyn and Cleveland State University.
