WOMEN’S SOCCER TOPS BENTLEY FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT YEAR, 3-1, ON “SENIOR DAY”

Syracuse, N.Y. – Seniors Adela Racic (Utica, N.Y./Thomas R. Proctor/Bryant & Stratton) and Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) combined for the team's three goals to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at Ted Grant Field.

After the Dolphins had their first two shots of the game saved, they opened the game's scoring just over 10 minutes into the contest. Freshman midfielder Elizabeth Glynn (Pittsford, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) sent a pass from 25 yards out into the top of the penalty box to Colegrove, who settled the ball and fired a shot into the lower left corner of the net at the 10:01 mark for her third goal of the season.

Le Moyne, which honored its seven-member senior class prior to the game, doubled its lead in the 19th minute. After taking a pass 30 yards out, Racic dribbled the ball into the penalty box before nailing a shot from eight yards out into the left side of the net for her third tally of the campaign.

Neither team put a shot on goal over the final 26 minutes of the half as the Dolphins took the 2-0 lead into the intermission.

The Falcons outshot the Dolphins 9-4 over the opening 39 minutes of the second half, while each team put three shots on goal, but the goalkeepers were able to keep the score 2-0.

The Dolphins extended their lead to 3-0 at the 84:35 mark as Racic collected a long feed up the field and carried the ball towards the top of the penalty box, where she fired a shot into the right side of the net for the first multi-goal game of her Dolphin career.

Bentley broke through with just 1:50 remaining in the game. Brandi McDonald sent a left-footed pass from the defensive side of the field into open space to Kelly Donlon, who outran a Le Moyne defender to the top of the penalty box, where she sent a shot into the back of the net for her second goal of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) registered four second-half saves to earn the victory between the pipes. Kat Hassapis recorded three saves in each half in the loss for the Falcons. Bentley posted a 13-12 edge in shots, including 11-5 in the second half, while taking seven of the game's nine corner kicks.

Le Moyne (6-9, 5-7 NE10), which won its fifth straight game over the Falcons to even the all-time series at 9-9-4, concludes its home schedule on Wednesday against Southern Connecticut State University at 3:00 p.m.
