Grace Powers (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) scored midway through the first half to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.
After four shots over the opening 23 minutes of the game, the first of which needed to be saved by goalkeeper Gabrielle Arruda, the Dolphins scored the game's only goal in the 28th minute. Off a corner kick from the right flag by senior midfielder

Kelsi Fredericks (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia/SUNY Oswego) headed the ball forward. Powers was able to knock the ball out of the air and into the lower right side of the net at the 27:46 mark for her second goal of the season. The assist gave Colegrove 22 for her career, which breaks a tie with 2016 Gold Wave Hall of Fame Inductee Gabrielle Curinga '94 for the second-most in the program's history. It also gave her 52 points in her career, which moves her into 13th place on the program's career points chart.
The Owls had a chance to tie the score in the second half, but Johanna Wahlen's shot hit off the corner of the goal post and crossbar in the 57th minute.
The Dolphins put two shots on goal in the middle of the half, but both were saved by Arruda.
Junior goalkeeper
Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) registered two saves in the first half to earn her 16th win as a Dolphin. The 16 wins are the fifth-most in a career by a Dolphin in the program's history. Arruda tallied a pair of saves in each half in the setback. Le Moyne recorded a 16-6 advantage in shots, including 10-3 in the second half, while posting a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (7-9, 6-7 NE10), which defeated the Owls for the first time since 2009 (0-4-3 in between wins), closes out the regular season on Saturday at Pace University at 5:00 p.m. The Dolphins will claim the seventh seed in the NE10 Championships with a tie against the Setters and can also claim the seventh seed with a loss if Bentley ties or loses against New Haven and Merrimack ties or loses at Saint Anselm. The Dolphins will claim the eighth seed if they lose at Pace and Bentley or Merrimack wins. The Dolphins will not claim a spot in the Championships field if they lose and Bentley and Merrimack both win.
