Ben Beaury (Cohoes, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) registered eight saves to post his 27th career shutout and break to program's career record as the Le Moyne College men's soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
Beaury's 27th career shutout breaks a tie with Matthew Silva '14 for the most shutouts in the program's history.
In the scoreless first half, the Dolphins recorded a 6-5 advantage in shots, including a 4-3 edge in shots on goal, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
The Skyhawks, who defeated the Dolphins, 3-1, last year, recorded the first two shots on goal of the second half, but Beaury was able to save both attempts.
In a span of 1:22 midway through the stanza, the Dolphins got off four shots, but only one was on target and it was saved by Stonehill goalkeeper Jeremy Zielinski.
Between the 71st and 76th minutes, the Dolphins put four shots on goal, but Zielinski was able to get to each.
The Dolphins finally broke through at the 85:38 mark with the game's only goal. After carrying the ball down the right side, senior midfielder
Adam Resetarits (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) crossed the ball in front of the net. Sophomore midfielder
Salar Faryar (Frankfurt, Germany/Max-Eyth Schule) was able to flick the ball towards the left post, where first-year graduate student forward
Marek Weber (Fulda, Germany/Sportgymnasium Jena/Goethe-University Frankfurt) put the ball into the back of the net for his Northeast-10 Conference-leading 13th goal of the season.
Stonehill was unable to get a shot off over the final four minutes of the contest as the Dolphins preserved the shutout.
Beaury tallied five of his eight saves in the second half as he picked up his 45th career victory between the pipes. Zielinski also finished with eight saves, including five in the second half, in the loss. Le Moyne posted an 18-15 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (8-2-1, 4-2-1 NE10) is back in action on Tuesday at The College of Saint Rose at 7:00 p.m.
