SAINT ANSELM EDGES WOMEN’S SOCCER, 2-1

Manchester, N.H. – Jessica Kaufman scored midway through the second half to lead Saint Anselm College to a 2-1 victory over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at Melucci Field.

After the Hawks recorded a 6-3 advantage in shots over the opening 31 minutes of the game, Saint Anselm took the lead. Off a pass from Caly Farina, Corey Murray fired a shot from the penalty-kick stripe into the back of the net at the 31:18 mark for her fifth tally of the season.

The Dolphins put a pair of shots on goal in a span of 11 seconds in the 34th minute, but Saint Anselm goalkeeper Elise Bouchard was able to save both.

Le Moyne tied the score just 73 seconds into the second half. From 35 yards in front of the net, senior midfielder Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) blasted a shot into the back of the net for her second marker of the campaign.

The Dolphins put attempts on goal in the 60th and 66th minutes, but Bouchard was able to keep the game tied.

Following a mishandling of the ball at the top of the box by the goalkeeper, Kaufman took advantage and fired a shot into the empty net at the 70:46 mark for her third goal of the year.

Le Moyne was unable to put a shot on goal in the final 19 minutes as Saint Anselm held on for the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) took the loss in between the pipes after failing to make a save in 74:17 of action. Bouchard finished the contest with five saves to earn the victory. Le Moyne tallied a 13-10 advantage in shots, including 8-3 in the second half, while each team posted two corner kicks.

Le Moyne (4-7, 3-5 NE10), which has dropped eight straight games at Saint Anselm, returns to the field on Wednesday at Assumption College at 4:00 p.m.
