The Dolphins were unable to convert a lay-up before time expired in regulation.
In overtime, the Moccasins took their first lead of the game on a free throw by Rauch 42 seconds into the extra session. The lead then changed sides four times over the next three and one-half minutes, the last of which came on a Lawton jumper with 54 seconds left for a 67-65 advantage. After the Dolphins missed a jumper in the paint on the other end, Ja'Kwan Jones converted the second of two foul shots to give Florida Southern a 68-65 lead with 22.1 seconds left.
With 5.6 seconds remaining, senior guard
Anthony Richards (New Castle, Pa./New Castle/West Virginia Wesleyan) drained a three-pointer from the right wing to even the score at 68.
