Liverpool, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team opened the Spring season with a 7-2 win over Daemen College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Gold's Gym.
The Dolphins opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition. At the top spot, sophomore
Tiffany Dun (Templestowe, Victoria/Doncaster Secondary College) and junior
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/Collège Saint-Maurice) defeated Karli Hollins and Jessica Robins by a score of 8-4. Junior
Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu/Kendriya Vidyalaya) and senior
Christina Perry (Endwell, N.Y./Seton Catholic) registered an 8-1 win at the second spot over Gretchen Ringler and Hayle Scanlan. Junior
Autumn Hogan (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas institute) and freshman
Cameron Aiello (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) won at the third spot over Shaylah Iverson and Morgan Park, 8-4.
Le Moyne took four of the six matches in the singles competition to close out the win. Vajjiravelu opened her fifth semester as a Dolphin with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the second spot over Scanlan. Benoit-Limosani did the same by defeating Ringler at the third position, 6-2, 6-1. Perry began her final semester by topping Robins at the fourth spot, 6-1, 6-3. Hogan collected her team's final win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the fifth position over Iverson. Hollins picked up Daemen's first point with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Dun at the first position, while Park defeated Aiello at the sixth spot, 6-1, 3-6, 11-9.
Le Moyne (9-7) returns to action on Sunday at St. Lawrence University at 4:30 p.m.
