THIRD-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE SHUTS OUT SAINT ROSE, 15-0

Syracuse, N.Y. – Three Dolphins scored three goals each to lead the third-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 15-0 victory over The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The shutout is the 14th by the Dolphins in the program's history and the first since a 12-0 victory over Southern New Hampshire University on March 23, 2012.

The Dolphins scored the only goal they would need 1:46 into the game as freshman attackman Riley Larson (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe) tallied his third goal of the year. Six minutes later, junior attackman Justin Kesselring (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) recorded his 17th goal of the year after taking a pass from freshman midfielder Sean Emerson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy). After junior long-stick midfielder Justin Hussey (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Onondaga C.C.) caused a turnover with 16 seconds left, senior midfielder Brian Rogers (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) cleared the ball before slipping a pass to Emerson, who found the back of the net with 0.8 seconds left in the first quarter.

Le Moyne scored five times in the second quarter to take an 8-0 lead. Just 13 seconds into an extra-man opportunity, Emerson tallied his 18th goal of the season after taking a feed from Kesselring at the 12:53 mark. Freshman attackman Matt Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) registered his first career goal only 32 seconds later. Hutchings picked up his second goal with 7:54 remaining in the half. Kesselring pushed the lead to seven 57 seconds later with an unassisted tally. Hutchings completed the scoring in the half with 2:22 left after collecting a pass from Emerson.

Three different Dolphins scored in the third quarter to extend the lead to 11-0. Junior midfielder Tom Koster (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Onondaga C.C.) started the half's scoring by finding the back of the net with 17 seconds left on a 30-second clock warning after taking a feed with 10:11 left from sophomore midfielder Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn). Kesselring netted his team-best 19th goal of the year with 8:57 left to get the Dolphins into double figures. Larson tallied his second goal of the day with 6:08 remaining in the period.

Le Moyne completed the game's scoring with four goals over the first 6:04 of the fourth quarter. Only 23 seconds into the period, Entenmann recorded his sixth goal of the season. Larson followed with his fifth goal of the campaign with 12:40 to go off a feed from freshman midfielder Jake Stowell (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia). Senior attackman Cade Kelleher (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) tallied the team's final two goals. His first came with 10:22 remaining and the second came off a pass from sophomore midfielder Daniel Lynch (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) with 8:56 to play.

Junior goalkeeper Jack Sweeney (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) registered five saves, including three in the second quarter, over 48:33 between the pipes to earn his seventh win of the season. Liam Guiton recorded 14 saves (against 11 goals), including seven saves in the third quarter, over 45 minutes in net in the setback. The Dolphins posted a 57-9 advantage in shots and a 29-12 advantage in ground balls.
