SECOND-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE HOLDS ON FOR 10-7 WIN OVER 17TH-RANKED SAINT ANSELM

Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Tom Koster (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Onondaga C.C.) scored four goals to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 10-7 win over 17th-ranked Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins jumped on the Hawks with five goals over the first 9:01 of the game. Sophomore midfielder Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) started the scoring 2:22 into the game after picking up a loose ball on the defensive end of the field and racing up field to net his ninth goal of the year. Just 45 seconds later, Koster tallied his eighth marker of the campaign. Freshman attackman Riley Larson (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe) recorded his ninth goal of the season at the 8:06 mark after cutting left to right to give the Dolphins a 3-0 lead and force a Saint Anselm timeout. Following a penalty on the Hawks, junior attackman Justin Kesselring (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) finished off a pass from sophomore attackman Jack Vajda (Camden, N.J./Rutgers Prep) at the 6:57 mark for his team-best 26th goal of the year. Entenmann capped the streak 58 seconds later with a goal from the right edge of the crease.

Following six scoreless minutes to start the second quarter, Saint Anselm scored three times in 4:21 to cut its deficit down to two. James Olsen got his team on the scoreboard with his 11th goal of the year at the 8:57 mark after taking a pass from Dylan Ryan. Mark Vitello registered his ninth goal of the campaign with 5:39 left in the half to make it 5-2. Olsen scored again with 4:36 to go off a feed from Alex Pacitti.

Le Moyne answered back with a pair of goals 35 seconds apart in the final one and one-half minutes of the half. Off a dodge down the right alley, sophomore midfielder James Felix (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) recorded his first goal of the season with 1:29 remaining. After the third faceoff violation of the half by the Hawks, Koster tallied his second goal of the day with 54 seconds left after collecting a pass from freshman attackman Matt Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus).

Saint Anselm scored three of the four goals in the third quarter to cut its halftime deficit in half. In an extra-man situation, Ryan Hesseltine scored from the front edge of the crease at the 9:57 mark off a pass through the defense by Vitello.

Koster got the goal back with 6:50 to go with his 10th tally of the year.

Vitello got the Hawks back within three with 4:34 left in the quarter and Anthony Busconi finished off the scoring in the period with 16 seconds left with his 16th goal of the year.

Olsen scored 3:20 into the fourth quarter off a feed from Busconi to get the Hawks within 8-7, but that would be Saint Anselm's final goal of the day.

Koster found the back of the net for the fourth time in the game just 1:07 later to put the Dolphins back up by two. Freshman midfielder Sean Emerson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) completed the game's scoring with his 19th goal of the year with 2:44 to play.

Junior goalkeeper Jack Sweeney (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) earned his 10th win of the season between the pipes after making three saves. Lucas DeAngelo recorded six saves in the loss for the Hawks.

Le Moyne (10-1, 7-1 NE10), which has won four straight games, is back on the field on Friday against Saint Michael's College at 12:00 p.m.
