Syracuse, N.Y. – Jeanine Nunez scored a goal and dished out an assist to lead sixth-ranked Adelphi University to a 3-0 victory over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at Ted Grant Field.
The Panthers, who improve to 9-0 on the season and are one of just seven undefeated teams remaining in Division II, scored the only goal they would need on their fifth shot of the game. Nunez carried the ball to the endline on the right side of the field before crossing the ball in front of the net. Kerianne Scorce raced in and headed the ball from the top of the goal box into the back of the net at the 23:06 mark for her fourth goal of the season.
Following three more shots, including one that had to be saved, the Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the final seconds of the first half. Savannah Taylor carried the ball down the right sideline before crossing the ball in front of the net, where Alexsis Weiser headed it from the top of the goal box back towards the right corner of the goal box. Jessica Petry kicked the ball out of the air from six yards out for her second goal of the campaign with less than six seconds remaining.
Adelphi tacked on an insurance goal midway through the second half. After a crossing pass was mishandled by the goalkeeper, Nunez scored her ninth goal of the year at the 62:52 mark from the top of the goal box.
The Dolphins put two shots on goal in the 75th minute, but both were turned away by the goalkeeper.
