Syracuse, N.Y. - Kallie Villemaire scored midway through the first half to lead Assumption College to a 1-0 victory over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field on Wednesday afternoon.
After each team sent a shot wide right in the first 15 minutes, the Greyhounds tallied the game's only goal. From the left sideline, Johnna Caporuscio sent a pass up field. Villemaire, who is tied for second in the NE10 in goals and third in points, collected the ball and held off a defender before encountering the goalkeeper at the top of the penalty box and sliding a shot inside the left post at the 15:40 mark for her ninth goal of the season.
Each team took four shots over the final 22 minutes of the half, including each putting a pair of shots on goal, but neither was able to find the back of the net.
The Dolphins had the first shot on goal in the second half, but it was saved.
Less than two minutes later, Assumption had a header off a corner kick, but it was headed away from the goal by a defender at the right post.
Le Moyne put three more shots on goal, but each was saved.
