Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior back
Riley Wilde (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional/Canisius) scored less than two minutes into the second half to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
In the scoreless first half, the Dolphins registered a 9-3 advantage in shots, including a 2-1 edge in shots on goal.
After being awarded a corner kick following a save by the Saint Michael's goalkeeper, sophomore midfielder
Elizabeth Glynn (Pittsford, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) served the ball in front of the net from the right corner. Wilde charged in and headed the ball into the back of the net on the right side at the 46:58 mark for her first goal of the season.
The Purple Knights had five shots over the remainder of the game, but were unable to put any on target.
Senior goalkeeper
Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) turned away the only shot put on goal to earn her third shutout of the season and the 10th of her Dolphin career, the second-most in the program's history. The win was her 20th as a Dolphin, the third-most in the program's history. The Dolphins registered a 23-8 advantage in shots, while posting a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (4-10, 2-9 NE10), which snapped a six-game losing streak, is back in action on Saturday at Bentley University at 11:00 a.m.
