MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO NE10 FAVORITE SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE, 6-3, IN NE10 OPENER

DeWitt, N.Y. – Xavier Aubron and Bas Van Biezen were double winners to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 6-3 victory over the Le Moyne College men's tennis team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Sunday at Elevate Fitness.

Le Moyne jumped out to a 2-1 lead through the doubles competition. At the first position, sophomore Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and senior Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) registered an 8-3 win over Tiago Fernandes and Miguel Marreiros. Juniors Xavier Graells (Casterllar del Valles, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and Tyler Underwood (LEM) teamed at the third spot for an 8-4 win over Ricardo Marreiros and Jeremy Reichentahl. Aubron and Bas Van Biezen picked up the first point for the Penmen with an 8-6 win at the second position over junior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) and senior Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee).
 
Southern New Hampshire, which topped the NE10 preseason coaches poll, won five of the six matches in the singles competition to secure the victory. Aubron's second point of the day was a 7-5, 6-3 win at the fourth position over Graells, while Van Biezen was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Doney at the fifth spot. Fernandes defeated Blythe at the first position, 6-4, 6-1, while Ricardo Marreiros topped Hernandez, 6-2, 7-5, at the second spot. Miguel Marreiros turned in a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the third position over Barton. Le Moyne earned its third point of the match as freshman Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) downed Reichentahl at the sixth position, 6-1, 7-5.

Le Moyne (2-3, 0-1 NE10) returns to action on Saturday at Daemen College at 3:30 p.m.
