SECOND-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE CRUISES TO 19-4 VICTORY OVER CHESTNUT HILL

Lafayette Hill, Pa. – Senior attackman Justin Kesselring (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) recorded a career-high seven points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 19-4 victory over Chestnut Hill College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium.

The Dolphins scored the first three goals of the contest over the initial 8:11. Sophomore midfielder Matt Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) started the scoring with an unassisted tally 66 seconds into the game. Sophomore attackman Jake Lewis (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia/Cleveland State) followed with an unassisted goal of his own with 11:13 left in the quarter. Lewis then finished off a feed from Kesselring with 6:49 to go for a 3-0 lead.

Joshua Pope got the Griffins on the scoreboard at the 5:11 mark with an unassisted goal.

Le Moyne scored the next nine goals from the end of the first quarter and into the third quarter. Hutchings put the Dolphins back up by three with another unassisted goal with 4:35 remaining in the first. Kesselring picked up assists on goals by sophomore attackman Sean Emerson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy/Siena) and junior midfielder Josh Slowinski (Williamsville, N.Y./Clarence) with 3:51 and 11 seconds remaining, respectively, for a 6-1 lead after the first quarter.

Slowinski started the scoring in the second quarter 1:42 into the period by finishing off a pass from junior midfielder Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn), who then tallied an extra-man goal off a feed from Kesselring with 11:47 left in the half. Just over three minutes later, freshman attackman Devin Andrews (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua Academy/Stony Brook) netted his first collegiate goal after collecting a pass from Kesselring. The duo reversed roles with 4:36 left in the half for a 10-1 advantage. Freshman attackman Ben McCreary (Cicero, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) tallied his first career goal with 16 seconds to go to put the Dolphins up 11-1 at halftime.

Sophomore midfielder Ross Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus/Siena) picked up his first goal as a Dolphin 3:46 into the third quarter to cap Le Moyne's run.

Dylan Klusaritz snapped the run by the Dolphins by finishing off a feed from Pope with 10:07 left in the third.

Le Moyne scored four times over the final 8:30 of the third to take a 16-2 lead after 45 minutes of play. Kesselring started the run off a feed from Andrews, who then found the back of the net 3:14 later off a pass from Emerson. McCreary registered his second marker of the game with 4:27 to go after receiving a pass from Andrews. Senior midfielder Tom Koster (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Onondaga C.C.) closed out the quarter's scoring with his first goal of the season with 2:35 left.

Sophomore midfielder Riley Larson (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe) got the scoring started in the fourth quarter at the 13:35 mark with his third goal of the season.

The teams traded goals over the final 12 minutes of the contest. Klusaritz finished off another pass from Pope in an extra-man situation with 11:55 left, while McCreary answered 2:22 later after taking a feed from classmate Evan Kelly (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Aquinas Institute). After Scott Wilden completed Chestnut Hill's scoring with 8:26 to go, sophomore midfielder Hans Zimmer (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) scored his first goal of the season with 6:36 after receiving a pass from freshman midfielder Casey Nevins (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post).

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Jack Sweeney (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) recorded one save (against one goal) in the first half to earn the victory between the pipes. Matthew Pedrick made nine saves (against 16 goals) over 45 minutes in the loss for the Griffins.

Le Moyne (2-0), which improves to 3-0 against the Griffins, returns home to host Roberts Wesleyan College on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
