FAZIO TIES DRAWS RECORD AS FOURTH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE TOPS 12TH-RANKED PACE, 13-6

Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) scored five goals and tied a program record with 12 draw controls to lead the fourth-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 13-6 victory over 12th-ranked Pace University on Friday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins scored three times in the opening 103 seconds of the game. Sophomore attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied her 19th goal of the season just 39 seconds into the game. She followed 32 seconds later with another unassisted goal. Fazio put the Dolphins up 3-0 another 32 seconds later after taking a pass from junior attacker Madison Pritchard (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C./Canisius).

Following five minutes of scoreless action, Fazio netted her 20th goal of the year at the 23:38 mark after taking a pass in transition from sophomore defender Olivia McEntee (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia).

Pace got on the scoreboard at the 18:38 mark as Courtney Pabst converted a free-position shot for her 21st goal of the year.

The Dolphins answered with a pair of goals in a span of 35 seconds. Fazio gave the Dolphins a 5-1 lead with 14:09 left after taking a pass from junior midfielder Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford). The goal made Fazio the 18th player in the program's history to record 100 career goals. Freshman attacker Emily Altland (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) followed with her second career goal.

Just over four minutes later, Sanna pushed the margin to 7-1 by finishing off a pass from Pritchard.

The Setters cut their deficit back to 7-3 with a pair of goals in 35 seconds. Casey Gelderman registered her 24th goal of the campaign with 8:19 off a pass from Pabst, who followed by converting a free-position shot with 7:44 to go.

Le Moyne tallied the final two goals of the half and took a 9-3 lead into the intermission. Off a clear by the Dolphins, Hall sent a pass from behind the net to Altland, who fired in a shot from the left wing with 4:49 remaining. Hall then netted her 21st goal of the year with 3:43 left in the half.

After six scoreless minutes to start the second half, the Dolphins scored four goals in a row. Hall got the Dolphins into double digits with an unassisted tally with 23:42 remaining in the game. Off a Pace turnover, McEntee cleared the ball before finding Fazio on the left edge of the crease, where she dropped in her fourth goal of the game with 21:31 to go. Fazio picked up her 11th goal of the week with 20:38 left off a free-position shot. Le Moyne's final goal of the game came with 20:00 remaining as a Pace player knocked a loose ball into the net.

Pace cut into its deficit with the final three goals of the game. Stephanie Chadnick recorded her 16th goal of the season in transition with 16:26 to play. Angela Kelly converted a free-position shot with 3:42 left for her 12th goal of the season and then scored the game's last goal with 2:09 to play.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell), the reigning Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week, registered 10 saves (against five goals) over 56:18 between the pipes to earn her 26th career victory, the fourth-most in the program's history. Fazio's 12 draw controls tie the program's single-game record, which was set by Gabrielle Kamide '13 on April 3, 2011 and tied by Vicki Graveline '17 on April 4, 2015. Jillian Oross recorded nine saves in the loss for the Setters.

Le Moyne (7-0, 3-0 NE10), which has defeated six ranked teams (by an average of 6.83 goals), hosts the eighth-ranked University of New Haven on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
