MEN’S TENNIS WINS THIRD STRAIGHT MATCH, 6-3, OVER SAINT ANSELM

Manchester, N.H. – Three Dolphins were double-winners as the Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered a 6-3 victory over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Carr Center.
 
The Dolphins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match by sweeping the doubles competition. At the top position, sophomore Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and senior Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) cruised to an 8-1 win over Eric Howes and Kyle Harris. Junior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and senior Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) won the closest doubles match of the day, 8-4, over Brian Kavanagh and Adam Weinstein at the second spot. Juniors Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) also were 8-1 winners at the third position over Daniel Kmetz and Alex Pearson.
 
The Dolphins claimed three of the six matches in the singles competition to complete the victory. Graells won his third straight match, 6-4, 6-3, over Kavanagh at the third spot for the team's fourth point. Blythe registered his second win of the day, 6-2, 6-3, at the first position over Howes to clinch the match for the Dolphins. Barton collected his third straight victory, 6-1, 6-2, at the fourth spot over Kmetz. Weinstein earned Saint Anselm's first point of the day in the closest match of the afternoon by rallying to beat Hernandez, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, at the second position. Harris was an 8-5 winner over freshman Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) at the fifth spot, while Benji Page defeated Underwood at the sixth position, 8-5.
 
Le Moyne (6-4, 3-2 NE10), which has won three straight matches, is back in action on Sunday at Franklin Pierce University at 11:00 a.m.
