Lock Haven, Pa. – Junior forward
Salar Faryar (Frankfurt, Germany/Max-Eyth Schule) scored less than eight minutes into the game as the Le Moyne College men's soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 victory over Lock Haven University on Thursday afternoon at the Stern Athletic Complex.
The Dolphins, who improve to 4-0 against Lock Haven over the last five seasons and posted shutouts in each contest, scored the game's only goal on the first shot of the contest. Senior midfielder
Sam Daniel (Bonnyrigg, Scotland/Lasswade/University of Mobile) served the ball into the box, where it was header over the goalkeeper by Faryar. The goal marked the 22nd of Faryar's career, which moves him into sole possession of 13th on the program's all-time goals scored chart.
The Bald Eagles recorded four of the half's next six shots, but were unable to put any on target.
Lock Haven dominated the shots in the second half, 7-1, but only put two on target and each was saved by redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Josh Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius).
Mahr finished the game with the two saves to record the victory between the pipes in his first collegiate appearance. Camden Cook took the loss for the Bald Eagles after failing to stop the only shot he faced. Lock Haven registered an 11-4 advantage in shots, while taking 10 of the game's 16 corner kicks.
Le Moyne (1-0), which is unbeaten in its last five season openers (4-0-1), opens the home portion of its schedule on Sunday against Jefferson at 1:00 p.m.
